The University of Malawi (UNIMA) dominated the Tertiary Students Sports Association of Malawi (TESSAM) games by scooping numerous prizes. The games were hosted by Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR) from Saturday, 26th September to Sunday, 17th September, 2017. UNIMA was represented by three out of the four constituent colleges namely College of Medicine, Chancellor College and the Polytechnic.

The Polytechnic scooped prizes in netball, volleyball and weight lifting. Chancellor College won the prizes 5000m race. College of Medicine reigned in lawn tennis Amongst the participants at the games were the University of Malawi, Mzuzu University, the hosts LilongweUniversity of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Malawi Assemblies of God University and DMI St. John of God University.

Speaking during the Prize Presentation Ceremony, the TESSAM President, Professor Richard Tambulasi, noted that TESSAM had made great strides in the number of sports disciplines as well as the number of Universities participating in the games. He thanked all students present for sparing time to participate the sports festival and encouraged them to work hard in their various academic programs. The president further thanked teams which merged winnersand scooped medals in different sports discipline for the job well done. He encouraged those that did not do well during the sports festival to work hard so that they perform outstandingly in the subsequent sports games.

This year’s TESSAM games were sponsored by National Aids Commission (NAC), Family Planning Association of Malawi (FPAM) and the National Sports Council of Malawi.
