The University of Malawi has four new CARTA PhD Fellows under the second cohort of CARTA PhD Fellows. The four new fellows were endorsed by the Board members of CARTA at their recent meeting held in Johannesburg. The names of the fellows are as follows:

1. Mr. Herbert Longwe  – College of Medicine

2. Mr. Peter Mwamtobe – The Polytechnic

3. Mr. Austin Mtenthiwa – Bunda College of Agriculture

4. Mrs. Linda Mpando (John Hopkins)

It is pleasing to note that for the second year running the University of Malawi has managed to get the same number (four) of successful candidates as the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa and Mekerere university in Kenya, which are regarded as some of the well-established universities in the consortium.
